9/11 Series by Karen Kingsbury
9/11 Series I
One Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury
Format: Audiobook 🎧
This book broke me in such a good way! It reminded me of God's promise to bring us followers peace despite the trials or struggles we are going through!
Summary from book:
Jake is a New York City fireman and devoted family man. Eric is climbing the corporate ladder at the expense of his wife and children. On a fateful Tuesday in September, two strangers meet for a startling moment in a smoke-filled stairway. Only one will leave the Twin Towers alive. Will he find his way home?
The last thing Jake Bryan knew was the roar of the World Trade Center collapsing on top of him and his fellow firefighters. The man in the hospital bed remembers nothing. Not rushing with his teammates up the stairway of the south tower to help trapped victims. Not being blasted from the building. And not the woman sitting by his bedside who says she is his wife.
Jamie Bryan will do anything to help her beloved husband regain his memory, and with it their storybook family life with their small daughter, Sierra. But that means helping Jake rediscover the one thing Jamie has never shared with him: his deep faith in God. Jake’s fondest prayer for his wife is about to have an impact beyond anything he could possibly have conceived.
If you lived through the awful event that was September 11th, you will always remember where you were! That day, the United States came to a stand still. Karen Kingsbury does a beautiful job bringing this event and spinning a tale of love, finding God, and acceptance. Once the end of this book was reached, my heart was shattered! I fell in love with the characters and wanted every single one to have their happy ending. But we all know, that although God is a loving God, He never promised an easy life for His followers. He only promises peace and forever in His kingdom. This book perfectly shows His love for his children along with promises of peace fulfilled!
Jamie Bryan is a beautiful example of the one of ninety-nine. She was a lost lamb, but God made sure He found her and brought her into the fold. He never gave up on her, much like her husband, Jake.
Jake Bryan is a wonderful example of being a light unto the world for Christ. His story - although hard to read - was a tremendous literary symbol of who I can only strive to be in this life.
There is a new saying that has been popping up all over on social media - “Walking in faith, tripping constantly”. I don’t know about you, but that fits me perfectly. So, when I read about Jake, I found myself wanting to have his type of faith in God. The unwavering, the strong, and the humble kind! The type of faith that rarely stumbles.
There are many themes throughout this book. Love, acceptance, forgiveness, and new faith are strongly woven into this novel. Karen Kingsbury absolutely won this reader over with this series. She had me smiling and tearing up with each turn of the page.
This book is a 5 star read - one that you will find yourself wishing you could read for the first time again and again. Whether you are a Christian fiction reader or not, this book is for you!
